Known as ‘The Shadow’, Jerry Yang holds the title as the 2007 WSOP Winner (Champion) . Raised in Temecula, California, Xao “Jerry” Yang was born in 1968 and has begun to make his living as a professional poker player. Until 2005, however, he had not played much poker and until his big win in 2007, he had only won a few small cashes in local California poker events. Yang won a $225 satellite and managed to make it to the World Series of Poker in 2007. He won the buy in from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. In describing his strategy, Yang admits that he was very aggressive from the start, whether he had a winning hand or not, because he felt that this would lead him to dominate the table. He was right, and the fairytale of the 2007 WSOP Winner (Champion) ended in an $8,250,000.00 prize for Xao Yang. Winning the Main Event and emerging as the 2007 WSOP Winner (Champion) has been a benefit to Yang and many charitable organizations. Now, Yang is listed as among the top ten highest winning individuals in live events. Specifically, the 2007 WSOP Winner (Champion) placed tenth. Once it was clear that Yang would win a share of the money that had been collected, he pledged to donate some of his winnings. Ten percent of the money went to three charitable organizations, The Ronald McDonald House charity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Feed the Children, and to Loma Linda University, the college that Yang had attended. At the beginning of the Final Table, Yang ranked eighth when it came to his chips. However, he quickly acquired a big lead and never gave that lead up throughout the event. In the end, Yang beat Tuan Tam, who had a Queen and an Ace, same suit diamonds, with his eight of spades and eight of diamonds when he hit a nine-high straight . 2008 WSOP - Which player will last longest in the $50,000 buy in HORSE Event (Event 45) at the 2008 WSOP occurring June 25, 2008?
