This year’s 2008 European Cup is nearly coming to an end and your chances to bet on Euro 2008 are now limited to four remaining teams. Fans have really got their money's worth this year as excitement has been off the charts, with tons of nail biting and thrilling Euro 2008 matchups. There are 4 nations left in the 2008 Euro Cup as semi-final matches are scheduled for Wednesday June 25th and Thursday June 26th. Spain, Russia, Germany and Turkey remain from a stacked field of other nations. Surprise team Russia is going to take on Spain on Thursday. Both these team had different routes in the 2008 Euro Cup. Russia and Spain have already met in the preliminary group stages of this year’s Euro Cup. Spain won the game handily by a score of 4-1. David Villa had a hat trick for Spain in this game as he became the first player since 2000 to do so. It is little surprise that Spain have built up steadily from this match. They will be reaching the 2008 Euro Cup semi-finals for the first time in 24 years. Spain looked very impressive with a quarterfinal win against the defending World Cup Champions, Italy. No Spanish team had beaten Italy since back in 1920, but they managed to do so, on penalty kicks 4-2. Currently Oddmakers at SportsBetting.com have Spain as +105 favorites heading into Thursday’s 2008 Euro Cup semi-final. Russia will look to avenge their earlier loss to Spain. This is the furthest that Russia has ever got in a European Cup since the break up of the Soviet Union. With the Soviet Union they have reached the semi-finals 5 times. Russia is going to try to make a name for itself this year as an independent nation. Russia may run into some trouble as they have never beat Spain. They have faced off 4 times, with Spain winning 3 of these contests and the other being a draw. Spain has also outscored Russia 6-1 in these matches. Russia will need to have a gutsy performance on Thursday if they hope to finally get a win over Spain and advance to the 2008 Euro Cup Finals. We are now very deep into the 2008 European Cup. There are only 4 teams left and both Euro 2008 semi-final matches will prove to provide Euro 2008 betting excitement. On Wednesday June 25th, Germany is going to take on Turkey in the first Euro 2008 semi-final match. Germany was the early Euro 2008 odds favorites to win the 2008 Euro Cup and haven’t disappointed, proving they deserve to be in the semi-finals. Turkey surprised everyone when they advanced this far, but should not be taken lightly in the Euro 2008 betting matchup as they have showed their skill and potential.
Turkey is just one step away from reaching their first ever European Championship final. They have a formidable opponent in Germany blocking their way. Turkey is the only team to comeback from behind in this year's 2008 Euro Cup. They have done it in their last 3 matches, but I don’t think they can fall behind to Germany this time if they hope to win the Euro 2008 semi-final match. In their Euro 2008 quarterfinal game against Croatia, Turkey put their fans through the shredder with a goalless game going deep into extra time. Croatia scored in the 119th minute when Ivan Klasic scored for Croatia. Everyone thought the game was over, but incredibly Turkey scored an equalizer with the last kick of the game. The momentum was now with Turkey, as they won the match in penalty kicks 3-1. Currently the Euro 2008 Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have Turkey as +650 underdogs heading into Wednesday’s match. Germany’s journey to this year’s Euro 2008 semi-finals has not been easy at all. They had to play a tough match against Portugal last game in the quarterfinals. Germany raised their game to eliminate them 3-2. Germany jumped out to a 2-0 lead and didn’t look back. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Miroslav Klose had the early goals as they led Germany. Germany can now look forward to their first Euro Cup semi-final since 1996 when they defeated England. Germany has also held the upper hand on Turkey in previous meetings. They have 11 wins, while Turkey has only won twice and there have been 3 draws. This match will surely be entertaining as anything can happen in the Euro 2008 betting matchup against Germany vs Turkey. The fourth and final quarterfinal of this year’s 2008 European Cup will take place on Sunday June, 22nd. It should be very entertaining to watch as it is going to bring two former winners together. Spain is going to take on Italy as both of them are bidding to add to their already impressive resumes. For Spain is it going to be a chance to make the final four for the first time since 1984, while Italy are looking for their second straight semi final berth in three Euro 2008 tournaments. Currently the Euro 2008 betting odds at Sportsbook.com have Spain as a +150 heading into Sunday’s Euro 2008 matchup.
Spain began their Euro Cup determined to make up for past disappointments. They rammed 4 goals past Russia in Innsbruck as David Villa scored a hat trick. He became the first player since 2000 to score a hat trick at the Euro Cup. The Valencia striker also set up Spain’s fourth goal as they won 4-1. Villa worked his magic again in the next match by scoring the game winner in extra time against Sweden. Spain won this game 2-1 and it guaranteed them a spot in the quarterfinals. For their third and final game they played defending champions Greece. They rested most of their players, but still managed to win the game 2-1. This made them undefeated and gave them momentum for their match against Italy. Currently Euro 2008 betting odds at Sportsbook.com have Spain as a +150 favorite heading into Sunday’s game. Italy started off this year’s Euro Cup with a scare, as they lost to the Netherlands 3-0. In their next match against Romania the Azzuri were lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw as Romania missed a late penalty kick which would have eliminated Italy. This meant that Italy went into their final game in group C needing a win against France and they had to hope that Romania didn’t beat the Dutch. They got an early penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead and didn’t look back, as they went on to win 2-0 and advance to the next stage. Both countries hold a fairly even record against each other in head to head competeition. In a total of 29 games dating back to September 1920, Spain have won 10, Italy 9 and there have been 10 draws. Look for Sunday’s match to be another tight one as either team can go on and win. The Euro 2008 Cup will continue to produce some exciting and entertaining betting action on Saturday June 21, when the Netherlands will take on Russia in the third quarterfinal Euro 2008 match. Many people feel that the Netherlands have just too strong of a team and that Russia does not have a chance. Anything can happen in the Euro 2008 and no team should ever be discounted. Oddsmakers at SportsBetting.com have all your Euro 2008 betting odds heading into this Netherlands vs Russia Euro 2008 quarterfinal matchup.
The Dutch have been very impressive so far in the Euro Cup. Fans should gain confidence as it looks like the Euro 2008 odds are showing its going to be the Netherlands year. They finished the group stage with 3 wins for 9 points, and had the best goal differential statistics. They scored 9 goals and only conceded one. However no team that has won all their preliminary games has even won the cup, except France in 1984. The Netherlands opened up with a rather impressive 3-0 win against Italy. Star striker, Rudd van Nistelrooy led the way with the first goal that proved to be more than enough. Next they defeated the French handily 4-1, which secured them a spot in the quarters. They rested 10 of 11 starters in their last game against Romania and still managed to win the game 2-0. They look as impressive as they ever have and are well on their way to glory. Currently Oddsmakers at SportsBetting.com have the Netherlands as -143 Euro 2008 odds favorites heading into tomorrow match. In contrast Russia began Euro 2008 with a bad start. They were crushed by Spain 4-1 as David Villa had a hat trick. They regrouped themselves for their next match against Greece, as they squeaked out a much needed win, 1-0. This meant that they would need a win in their last match against Sweden. They played amazing, skilled and tactical soccer and they dominated the entire game, winning by a score of 2-0 and advancing to the quarters. Both Arshavin and Pavlyuckenko had the goals. This will mark the first time that Russia have even got past the group stages in the major tournament in five tries. In their only prior meeting, the Netherlands won 4-1 in the friendly last year. This will be a great game to watch, but I feel the Dutch will be too much for Russia to handle. |

The Euro 2008 Cup has been very exciting to watch so far this year. Everything is now set into place as all the Euro 2008 preliminary group matches are complete. All the quarterfinals have been set in stone and will begin to get underway starting today. A great Euro 2008 betting matchup to look at however, is going to take place on Friday June 20th, between Croatia and Turkey. Croatia have been very dominate in this years Euro Cup and finished on top in Group B. They started off the tournament against the host nation Austria and won this match on an early penalty kick, 1-0. After this they never looked back. They went on to beat the top ranked team in the tournament in Germany by a score of 2-1. To finish the group stage off they won their third straight against Poland 1-0. Croatia has looked rather impressive so far and it will be interesting to see how they fair against Turkey. Turkey has been a rather surprise team so far. They lost their initial match to Portugal by a score of 2-0, putting them in a hole early. In their next match against Switzerland, they were down 1-0 at halftime. They managed to regroup and came back to win 2-1, giving them hope of advancing to the next round. In their final group match, they were in a similar position, trialing 2-0 to the Czech Republic. They gave it everything they had and came back to win 3-2 and advance to the quarterfinals. Never count Turkey out as they have proved twice they are never down and out. Currently Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have Turkey as a +333 underdog heading into Friday’s game. This match is going to mark the fourth time these 2 teams have faced each other. Croatia holds a slight edge over Turkey as the have 1 win along side 2 draws. This should be a very entertaining match as both teams come into it very hungry for the win. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. View Euro 2008 Odds at OnlineSportsHandicapping.com before you bet on Euro 2008 at Sportsbook.com |
