The Los Angeles Galaxy may have one of soccer’s biggest stars in David Beckham but so far he has not helped them win any games. The Galaxy lost 3-0 to Chivas USA Thursday night at home, despite the fact that Beckham played all 90 minutes of the game. Soccer Betting at SBG Global Beckham played all 90 minutes in England's 2-1 loss to Germany in a friendly on Wednesday, then flew to Los Angeles Thursday and played the full game for the Galaxy. Los Angeles has lost all three MLS games Beckham has played in. The Galaxy is winless in their last six games and has an overall record of 3-9-5 and is not looking good to make the playoffs. The Galaxy remains 12 points behind the Columbus Crew for the final MLS playoff spot. Bet on Soccer at Sbgglobal.com
What many people fail to remember about soccer is that it is a team sport and very few players can single-handedly turn around an entire team. Beckham is a good soccer player but he is not the best player in the world and is on the downside of his career. The Galaxy has a superstar celebrity in Beckham but they do not have a superstar player. It is great that Beckham has given MLS soccer a lift in the United States but it will take more than his presence to lift the Galaxy and the league into the spotlight for more than a brief instance. The attendance in New York for the game against the Galaxy and Beckham was 55,000 higher than the average game. In non-Beckham games, the league is still struggling around the 12,000 mark. The problem for the Galaxy and the MLS in general is that the best soccer players in the world do not play in the MLS. The best league in the world is the English Premier where it is unlikely but a handful of MLS players could even make a team. It is difficult for Beckham to lift an entire team and an entire league on his own. He is just one player and in soccer one player can make a difference, but it is hard to turn a losing team into a winning one. Beckham has increased the visibility around the MLS and the Los Angeles Galaxy but it will take more than his presence to win games. The Galaxy made a bold move in signing Beckham and the immediate returns have been solid in terms of interest and fans. The problem is that to keep fans you need to win games and right now the Galaxy is not fulfilling that part of the equation. - Preseason, NFL Week 1 and Super Bowl Props are available - Receive up to 70% in Bonuses from SBG Global ! - $15,000 WEEKLY NFL Handicapping Contest Click here to visit SBG Global. *Bonuses have restrictions, please contact customer service.
