England’s Liverpool takes on Italy’s AC Milan in the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final Wednesday May 23 at 2:45 p.m. ET. The game will take place in Athens, Greece in the famous Olympic Stadium. Dave Price has your 2007 Champions League Final odds right here. Bodog.com lists AC Milan as the favorite at +130 and Liverpool the underdog at +170. Those of you who anticipate a close match can pounce on the draw at +200.
AC Milan playmaker, Kaka, expects Liverpool to play a long ball game and I think we all should trust Kaka’s judgment. The Brazilian playmaker was brilliant in the semifinal matchup against soccer power Manchester United scoring two goals. I guess it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to anticipate how Liverpool will play knowing that all British sides play a very tactical game on offense and mark tightly on defense. AC Milan’s semifinal matchup with Manchester United may have been the best possible preparation for Liverpool in the Final.
You can also bet that AC Milan footballers who shared in agonizing defeat over a 2005 Champions League Final loss to Liverpool in a match that ended in a shootout will be out for revenge. The reason I say agonizing is because the Italian side seemingly had the game won with a 3-0 lead at the half. For those of you who don’t follow soccer closely, that’s like blowing a 30-point lead in basketball.

The last time Liverpool and A.C. Milan squared off, the soccer world was blessed with one of the best matches ever played. Soccer fans will be hoping for an encore of that match when the two teams clash again on May 23 in the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. This game is a rematch of the 2005 Champions League final, which Liverpool won on penalty kicks. That UEFA game is remembered by anyone who saw it because Liverpool staged an amazing comeback in the second half after falling behind 3-0. Liverpool scored three dramatic goals in a six-minute span and topped A.C. Milan 3-2 on penalties, with Smicer netting the game-winner. A.C. Milan enters the rematch as a slight favorite after a mediocre season in the Italian Serie A. They finished in fourth place, 32 points back of first-place Inter Milan, due in part to a point deduction instituted because of match fixing. The player to watch for A.C. Milan is Kaka. The Brazilian striker scored 18 goals in 45 games this season and is the leading goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League with 10. Other dangerous players on A.C. Milan include striker Alberto Gilardino and Gennaro Gattuso, who is the leader of the team both on and off the field. Milan last won the Champions League back in 2003, when they defeated Juventus on penalty kicks after going scoreless in regulation and extra time. Bet on Soccer at Wagerweb.com |

Two Spanish soccer teams will meet up for the first time in the 2007 UEFA Cup Final game on Wednesday, when Sevilla battles Espanyol in Glasgow, Scotland. The clear favorite heading into this match is Sevilla. They're the defending UEFA Cup champions and have had a much better season in the Spanish soccer league than Espanyol has had. Sevilla still has a real chance at winning the Spanish league title, as they sit only two points out of first place. If Sevilla could capture that title it would be a huge upset over frontrunners Barcelona and Real Madrid. In the UEFA Cup Final the players to watch for on the Sevilla side include Fredi Kanoute, Luis Fabiano and Javier Chevanton. This lethal trio makes up one of the top strikeforces in the soccer world and so far in the UEFA they have been performing up to par, especially Fabiano who netted a goal in Sevilla's semifinal clincher versus Osasuna. Sevilla also boasts one of the best midfielders in Daniel Alves. Alves is a superb setup man and has notched 16 assists this 2007 soccer season. Even with Alves at midfield, Sevilla could have a question mark at the position if Adriano Correia isn't ready to go. The Brazilian is a dynamic defensive presence, but has missed Sevillla?s last two soccer games due to a strained thigh muscle. Adriano is expected back for the final, but he may not be at 100 percent. Bet on Soccer at Wagerweb.com |

By Tim Robertson WagerWeb.com Contributing Writer Thierry Henry’s last-gasp goal against Manchester United may have let Chelsea off the hook, but this weekend was another blow to the Blues’ hopes of defending their Premiership crown. Sure, the gap to the top remains at six points despite Saturday’s loss at Liverpool, but the performances of the top two clubs this weekend showed the difference is much greater right now. United were seven minutes away from victory at Arsenal before they were hit by two quick goals – first Robin van Persie’s 83rd minute equaliser and then Henry’s injury-time winner. But Sir Alex Ferguson’s men played impressive football for most of the game, bossing midfield and creating several chances. |

By Tim Robertson WagerWeb.com Contributing Writer Birmingham City will take aim at another Premiership scalp in this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round. Having humiliated Newcastle in a 5-1 win at St James’ Park, the Blues host Reading on Saturday, and despite what the league table says Royals manager Steve Coppell believes his team should not travel to the midlands with the idea that they are facing a Championship side. Birmingham, hit hard by injury, went down last season but look like coming straight back up as they sit second in the Championship with two games in hand on leaders Derby. "If you look at the season they had last year injuries determined their season,” Coppell said. “If they had had all their personnel available they would still be a Premiership club. |
