Several teams can clinch a spot in the European Championship when qualifying continues on Wednesday. Germany became the first country to qualify for next year’s final while Austria and Switzerland automatically qualify as co-hosts of the tournament. England, Greece, Czech Republic and Sweden can all advance with a win, while Croatia and Poland can qualify with help. Soccer Betting at SBG Global The two teams that are facing the most pressure in EURO 2008 Qualifying are World Cup finalists France and Italy. The problem for both of those teams is that Scotland is threatening to win Group B which means one of them would miss out. Scotland leads the group and needs only four points from its remaining two matches to qualify. Scotland, who has 24 points, is at Georgia on Wednesday. Its final qualifier is at home against Italy. Italy has 23 points while France has 22 points. "I believe Georgia can put Scotland in trouble because they are a good team and have nothing to lose," Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said. "We are at risk of not qualifying with 26 or 27 points in our group." Georgia has only seven points from 10 matches and its only wins have been against Faeroe Islands. Scotland got a huge win over the Ukraine on Saturday and has won six straight for the first time in 58 years. "On our day, we can beat anybody and we are very hard to beat," Scotland striker James McFadden said. Bet on Soccer at Sbgglobal.com
Bet on the EURO 2008 Qualifying at SBG Global In other EURO 2008 qualifying news, Croatia will be hoping England wins or draws against Russia on Wednesday, as either result would advance Croatia. England needs to win or draw to advance but would still have a game remaining. "Believe me, on Wednesday, I will be a bigger England fan that anyone in England," Croatia coach Slaven Bilic said. England will be without injured defender Ashley Cole, while captain John Terry could also miss the match with an injured knee. Russia must win to stay alive. Sweden and Spain are looking good in Group F. Sweden can clinch with a win over Northern Ireland on Wednesday. Spain also has 22 points but does not play their next qualifier until November. The Czech Republic can advance from Group D with a win at Germany on Wednesday. Greece can advance from Group C with a win at Turkey on Wednesday. Romania got a huge win over Netherlands in Group G on Saturday and looks to be in good position to qualify. Romania has 23 points; Netherlands have 20 and Bulgaria 18. Romania is at Luxembourg, Netherlands hosts Slovenia and Bulgaria plays Albania on Wednesday. Romania will advance if it wins and Bulgaria loses. Portugal moved into second place in Group A. They are four points behind leader Poland. Finland is tied for second place. If Portugal and Serbia lose then Poland would clinch a spot.
