The 2007 French Open will be held in Paris, France from May 27th through to June 10th, 2007. Clay master Rafael Nadal of Spain is the favorite at 1 to 2 odds (Bet $200 to win $100) at Bodog.com. Nadal looks to defend his 2006 title at Roland Garros. Last year he beat Swiss nemesis Roger Federer 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
Federer won his fourth Hamburg Masters last week and defeated Nadal in the Finals (2-6, 6-2, 6-0) on clay for the first time ever. The victory ended Nadal's record 81 match winning streak on clay.
"If I had to lose to anyone, Roger is the man," Nadal said out on court. "I congratulate him on a great tournament and wish him luck for the French."
Despite the win last week, Roger Federer's 2007 French Open odds to win are 20 to 1 (Bet $100 to win $200) on his quest for the 2nd tournament in the Grand Slam of Tennis. Federer beat Fernando Gonzalez at the Australian Open earlier this year.
"There's more focus on the French Open, and it would be just so nice to win it," Federer said, "so I'm going to give myself the best possible chance."
The French Open is the second of the Grand Slam tournaments on the annual tennis calendar and is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world.
